As the ever increasing demand for a greener way of life continues on in our modern culture, the car manufacturing industry is listening - and they’re occasionally providing solutions.

But what about all the other fantastic vehicles out there that deserve to stand the test of time? The ones that should have a chance to live on long after the environment has reached a breaking point?

We’re going to cover five luxury cars that we believe definitely deserve a plug-in counterpart. And hopefully, you’ll be quick to agree.

The Jaguar F-Type

Our first entry on this list comes from the classic car manufacturer Jaguar. Known largely for their contribution to the luxury supercar market, the Jaguar brand has done it again with their brilliant F-Type model.

A car that looks magnificent and performs like a dream, the F-Type boasts a five out of five rating on the Auto Express website, and whether you opt for the convertible version or not, you can be sure you’re getting access to a stellar car.

The F-Type’s biggest engine can produce 543 bhp which is incredibly powerful indeed, but there are also other models that can produce less if you feel that that’s too strong for your driving needs.

We really feel this deserves a plug-in counterpart simply because it is one of those vehicles that has the ability to turn heads, and make driving a whole new, relaxing experience for anyone who gives it a chance.

Nissan GT-R

One of the things that Nissan likes to boast about with this vehicle, is the fact that it comes complete with a 545-hp twin-turbo V6 engine. This leads to monumental power levels. You can only imagine the extra zap even a small battery pack would add. Going once, going twice? We have a winner!

It’s a car that has a rather strong presence on any road it graces, and this is backed up by the fact that the GT-R comes complete with brakes that can come to a full stand still from 70 mph in an impressive 40.9m. It is features like this that portray the GT-R as a vehicle that not only wants to offer a fantastic drive, but a user friendly one too.

For these reasons, we really wish Nissan would take aim at a plug-in car similar to their GT-R model. And if you’ve ever had the chance to get behind the wheel of one yourself, then we’re sure you’ll certainly agree!

Rolls-Royce Ghost

No luxury car list could ever be complete without a swift nod towards the greatness that is the Rolls-Royce brand.

This vehicle certainly airs tangible tales of elegance, and anyone who sees it, is sure to be impressed even solely by the vehicle’s ambiance.

And it’s an intelligent car too. Built-in software allows the Ghost to use GPS data to monitor the road in front of you for the ultimate driving experience. On top of this, the car can go from 0.60mph in just 4.7 seconds, again making it a vehicle that stands out.

Its top speed is 154 mph, and this 4 door drive has a Twin Turbo Premium Unleaded V-12 engine to provide the ultimate power to this beast.  Not surprisingly though, it stands at only 11 mpg city.

For those that can afford to pay a premium price for a Rolls-Royce, an even more powerful plug-in version should be a no-brainer. The large chassis would be ideal for a battery that can run a few hundred miles, and it can quickly turn into a favorite ‘toy’ for both royals and Hollywood stars.

Bentley Continental GTC

Emblazoned with the classic Bentley badge, the Continental GTC is one that will impress time and time again. The car comes with a V8 engine that’s enough to seduce even the most educated car enthusiast, and it’s a car that demands attention.

The vehicle uses a lot of fuel to operate, which is why we’d greatly welcome a plug-in version. The 2014 model stands at 14 city/17 combined/24 highway.

To get access to all the greatness you can come to expect from the Bentley brand, yet not have to cash out large sums of money on petrol usage, could propel the Bentley manufacturers to brand new heights. A plug-in version could give us the access we desire to this vehicle, alongside a clear consciousness that we’re driving the car in a green manner.

Could the Bentley Bentayga PHEV hit the market any sooner?

Ferrari 458 Italia

Ferrari 458 Italia

For the final entry on our list, we will explore the Ferrari 458 Italia.

This car really is something special, and you only need to visit a few review sites online to see just how valued the model is across the luxury motorcar industry.

One of the most favored parts of the Ferrari 458 Italia is how brilliant it actually looks.  The vehicle is one that will capture the hearts of anyone, whether they’re sitting inside or viewing the car from the pavement.

It has a top speed of 201 mph, and can go from 0-60 mph in as little as 3.4 seconds. Complete with 7 gears, the Ferrari 458 Italia is one that we think has thoroughly earned its spot on this list.

Luxury cars that need a plug-in version

There are so many cars out there that deserve a plug-in counterpart, that it can be hard to decide which ones deserve it more. But the cars featured in this list have proven themselves time and time again, worth a shout-out.

From Nissan and Ferrari, to the Rolls-Royce Ghost, these vehicles really do offer the ultimate driving experience - but if only we could make it a little greener.

Hopefully one day soon, the manufacturers will realize that one way to eternalize these marvels of the modern auto industry, is by turning them fully electric, or by at least offering PHEV versions.

The green car revolution has already started. Are you in?
